The Maruti Ciaz has been spotted testing with a BS6-compliant engine for the first time in India. The sedan had the Smart Hybrid badge affixed in its boot and the engine will get the BS6 update soon. As for the diesel motor, it is highly unlikely to get the update and Maruti had also made it clear that it will not update it unless there is enough demand for it.
The Maruti suzuki ciaz on road priceis now available with a 1.5-litre DDiS diesel engine. Prices for the 'DDiS 225' engine start from Rs 9.97 lakh and go up to Rs 11.37 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. This new engine is currently being sold alongside the older 1.3-litre DDiS 200 and is not available with the base Sigma variant. The 1.5-litre DDiS 225 engine makes 95PS of power at 4000rpm and 225Nm of peak torque between 1500-2500rpm, and comes mated to a new 6-speed manual gearbox. But unlike the 1.3-litre diesel, the new 1.5-litre engine does not get SHVS micro-hybrid tech. As of now, there are four powertrains to choose from in the Ciaz lineup- 1.5-litre petrol MT SHVS, 1.5-litre petrol AT SHVS, 1.3-litre diesel MT SHVS and the new 1.5-litre diesel MT.
