I wear monthly contact lenses and been having problems towards the end of the month with the right eye. Absolutely no problems with the left eye. Been wearing contacts for around 15 years, recently had a eye test and contact lens check and prescription changed but no problems with health of my eyes. The new lenses were all fine but I did seem to have problems with the right eye towards end of the first month but I put it down to being lazy with cleaning them/wearing them too long. When I started with a fresh pair all was okay for about 3 weeks but then I started having problems again and so I left them out for a few days and started yet another fresh pair and this time I was religiously cleaning them every day and all was fine for about 3 weeks but now I am having problems with the right eye yet again. Not sure how to explain it but it feels like the lens moves around my eye a lot and at times irritates my eye. Vision is a little blurred too. At times my vision is as if the contact lens isn’t in my eye so must be moving about and then all of a sudden goes back to normal. Anyone suffered anything like this and have any ideas what’s going on? I’m obviously going to see my optician but thought I’d ask on here whilst I wait for my appointment!

I have a similar problem. I have been wearing my contacts for now 12 years, eyes fine never any issues with the health. 3 years ago my prescription changed so I had to change lens brand in line with my higher prescription. My eyes didn't like these at all but thankfully the optician agreed with me that my older preciption was fine so we left it on the old brand and strength. After about 3/4 months my eyes got sore and red, I wetn back and he said my lids were inflamed and I couldn't wear contacts for atleast 2 weeks, went back still no better so left it another 2 weeks, after that eyes still not right but he said I could try dailies which I did and I wore these for about a year on and off with my glasses. After this I decided to try my monthly day and nights again and thankfully my eyes are all healthy and sight is good however I do find that before I could constantly wear my contacts without needing to wear my glasses at all but now since my eyes got inflamed I find after 3 weeks of wearing my eyes do feel tired and sore so I take them out for afew days wear my glasses then stick a new pair of contacts in and Im good. Your eyes do change as they get older, what was ok 15 years ago might not be now, to me I would suggest taking a break from them for atleast 2 days per month, if you are concerned just speak to your optician

You might simply be wearing them too often. How many times a week do you wear them and for how long each day? I was told you are only supposed to wear them for 6 hours a day max and 4 times a week. I used to wear them everyday for long hours my eyes because more irritated towards the end of day. Soon I started getting white crust flakes on my eyelashes. Optician said it was some kind of disease and I was to rub oil on my lashes to help it!!! I just stopped wearing my contacts and it went away no problem. I only wear them once in a while now. Point is don't always believe the optician trust yourself.

I had a similar issue, have been wearing lenses about 15 years and the same brand of dailies for about 4-5 of those years. A routine lens check with a new optician resulted in me being told that my eyes were too small for my lenses! She also mentioned that I had some irritation and scarring on the lids of my eyes as a result of the lenses moving about too much. I thought it was all nonsense initially, they did get dry and a bit itchy at the end of the day but I'd put that down to wearing them for too long. Anyway, nearly a year later, having taken her advice and swapped the dailies for a smaller brand, I have had no issues. I hadn't noticed the previous ones were too big but the new ones did feel much better.

They come in all shapes and sizes apparently. Ask your optician for a trial. When trying to find the right ones I wore two different types, a different one in each eye, for a couple for days to check comfort and for her to check scratches on my lid before I left with my perfect fit.
