Have you noticed how often there are air pockets in the forex market where prices rise or drop sharply on a news headline? Take a look at the GBPUSD chart below and how the currency fell sharply on September 27 on a dovish comment from what is considered a hawkish member of the Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee. A 60 pip drop in a matter of seconds is what I consider to be hitting an air pocket.
